- Favorites: This function will enable you to remember some words you would like to. Good for learning for example.
- Recents listing: There was a recents function built in, but you had to go back and forward with arrows, but you could not see the list. Now, you can, and you can even modify it.
- Accentuation insensitive search: Back in time when we started developing the dictionary the idea was, that you can write accentuated letters, so this is not an important thing. However, we realized, that most of the users does not even know how to enable international keyboards, or how to use them. So this is a must, and will now be supported
- In App Payment enabled Speech: BitKnights has licensed high quality text-to-speech solution from Loquendo, and this will be available to you for additional payment. We need to pay royalty, that's why you have to pay for it additionally. But you have to pay only once per language

Dictionary Updates

Soon, all our dictionaries will be updated. There will be some minor updates, like faster startup, improved look etc. Besides this, there will be a lot of major changes, and new functions.
Learning languages: Vocabulary Trainer

Training your vocabulary is hard and could be very boring. To give you some help, we developed Vocabulary Trainer. It trains your vocabulary in a very simple way: You choose the language direction (e.g. Spanish to English, or English to Spanish), it shows you words and phrases with 5 options to choose from. There is only one good answer.
What makes this tool very useful is it's database. We have analysed a big pack of text from different sources, and have collected the most important words used in the everyday language. This big bunch of words is the base of this application.
When studying languages there's another important thing. You need to learn the pronunciation, which could be very hard in some cases/languages. So we have licensed high quality TTS engine from Loquendo, and made it available in Vocabulary Trainer. How does it sound? :)
Initially Vocabulary Trainer will be available in four version: Spanish English, German English, French English, Italian English. We'll let you know on Twitter when it passes Apple review.
Retrospective and new challenges in the new year

The last year was very exciting for BitKnights - as I'm sure is for all newly founded company. There was a lot of happening, beginning with foundation and our first steps in the world of iPhone, continuing with some middle-sized success in the field of Dictionaries and Altitude measurement.
I think we began like most of the iPhone development teams. We tried ourselves and AppStore, and the users liked our applications, so we moved forward. The only thing missing is the "big bumm" of one of the applications :).
So what are the new challenges to the new year. Well, there are some.
GPS Box available on AppStore

At last our new homepage has finished and is live. There are several worth-mentioning-things:
- It has a new design, which looks a lot better than the old one
- The blog is integrated
- Some applications have video, which demonstrates the use and capabilities.
- There are direct links to AppStore

BitKnights Application updates are coming

After a lot of development work and testing all the dictionary and altimeter softwares was uploaded to Apple and are waiting for review. Hopefully they will be out in the next 2 weeks or even earlier.
The dictionary software changed a lot. It has improved user interface and better handling. It supports copying of words on the detail view on iPhone OS 3.0 or above. Furthermore the bugs which made it hang
sometimes was fixed. The quick search was further optimized, so it's now even quicker.
You can see some pictures about, hope you all will like it.
Our other software, the Altimeter was also updated. It now shows more information to the users about the GPS state and signal, so you will always know, if you don't have GPS signal.
Company = Lots of administration

We are arranging things in our company. We are moving to an office, which is not as easy as it sounds. There's a lot of things to arrange: e.g. you need desks and chairs, you need internet or phone, have to choose how your office will look like, and so on. To many things to do...
Besides this we are working on the update of our dictionaries. It will be really cool. Soon I will upload a picture how it looks like now.
After these are finished, we are going to work on new applications. Very exciting ones... Hope you are interested :).

It was a long time since the blog was last udpated. There are several reasons. Holiday, working on updates, re-organizing our life to give bigger priority to software development.
During this time, there was some little bug fixing updates on our existing softwares, and a new version of the Altimeter was released. Now it's usage is easier and the application makes clear what's happening. At this time only the European one was updated, the other updates will come soon.
We also were working on the dictionaries. It will be more user friendly and will look much better. It will also have new function. Since it seems Apple takes more and more time to release updates, it's not sure when this will be released, but hopefully at the end of September, or beginning of October.
From now on, there will be regular updates both on twitter and the blog, so you will always know what's happening at BitKnights :).
New dictionaries and top downloads

The last one and a half week was really exciting for BitKnights, for several reason.First, there was 7 new dictionaries released. It seems You really like them, since one (the Finnish English) is already in the 3 place of the top 100 in Finland.
The other, more exciting happening was, that the Italian English dictionary jumped in to top 100, and in one week has made it to the 3rd place. And the Italian store is a really big one in Europe. So this is our biggest success, until this time. Hope it will keep for a long time :).
