Retrospective and new challenges in the new year

The last year was very exciting for BitKnights - as I'm sure is for all newly founded company. There was a lot of happening, beginning with foundation and our first steps in the world of iPhone, continuing with some middle-sized success in the field of Dictionaries and Altitude measurement.
I think we began like most of the iPhone development teams. We tried ourselves and AppStore, and the users liked our applications, so we moved forward. The only thing missing is the "big bumm" of one of the applications :).

So what are the new challenges to the new year. Well, there are some.


GPS Box

Do you have multiple separate GPS based applications just because they all have some different function, you need? In this case you need GPS Box. It has all the required fancy GPS features and more, furthermore it's cheaper then buying all apps separately.

Main features:

  1. Rotating google maps based map, with full screen capability.
  2. Speed camera database
  3. Location bookmark, to save the place you left your car, or to bookmark any place. You can even save pictures and add text.
  4. Speed measurement
  5. Compass with both magnetometer (only on 3GS) and GPS support
  6. Trip functionality to measure and save your important trips
  7. Display of the current address, you are
  8. Altimeter measurement which uses both GPS and online services to determine your elevation
  9. iPod control/display panel, to show what your iPod is playing, and to control main functionalities.

With so many altitude measurement tool there wasn't even one, which could give you exact results. iPhone's built in GPS can't give you correct data when it comes to show you altitude. Therefore BitKnights has developed new methods of measuring your elevation.

Features

  1. Three different method to determine your elevation: online service, built in database, built in GPS
  2. Display of your current position
  3. Display the closest city to your current position
  4. Display the direction of the city center according to your current course (white line)
  5. Display the absolute direction of the closest city center
  6. Speed measurement
  7. Mesurement and display of your current course
  8. Led like display, with 3 diferrent color scheme
  9. GPS signal strenght display

Note: You can use the application on iPod touch too, and if you are connected to a WiFi network it will show your current elevation, however, you cannot use it without a WiFi. Also, you can use it with iPhone 2G, which has not got a built in GPS, since it still can determine your position by triangulation, however, it won't be that exact in this case, since your position itself is not accurate enough.
